Competitive Analysis

Strategies, designs, user experiences of existing

doctor find apps are compared and evaluated to

determine their strengths and weaknesses relative

to those of Rocdoc app.

Strengths

- Relatively high reliability

- Solid user base

- Fully functional search engine

- Multiple interaction platforms

- Sufficient data support

Weakness

- Information overload

- Lack design hierarchy

- Busy imagery

- Confusing navigation

- Readability issue

Target Audience

The target audience is the students at Rochester Institute of Technology. By interviewing 10 RIT students on campus and analyzing two persona, including empathy maps and scenarios, I gained a deeper insight into the target audience. After immersing into different users’ environments by analyzing what they think, feel, hear, say, do and see, better design solutions can be obtained more efficiently.

Interviews Questions:

Basic information (Age, Major, Grade)

What's your solutions when you don't feel well?

How often do you see doctors?

What concerns you the most when you need to see a doctor?

Do you have student health insurance plan?

Have you seen a doctor in Rochester before?

PART 3

Process

User flow

Create application logic and define features and functions

Wireframes

Wireframe prototype were sketched rapidly for defining the hierarchy of items, consistency as well as the overview of UX and navigation. User testing were conducted at this stage.

User test

The goal was to get feedback from users for the navigation, structures,

features, usability and contents. Few students were tested the wireframe

prototype on Invision and filled the user testing forms.

Questiions

User feedback

Strength

1. Clean look, navy color provides a calm and sanitary feeling

2. Love the time selection circle, easy and effective

3. Consistent icon set, neat and elegant

4. Easy to navigate, every steps are easy and smooth

Weakness

1. Outline of the icons are light, hard to read

2. Can't clear multiple options on filter page at one time

3. Saved doctors is in 'notification', which is hard to find

4. Would be better if there is a calendar on history page

Modify

Several changes were made based on user testing results.

There is a summary list of designs that had been adjusted.

1. Increase stroke of icons

2. Add reset on filter page

3. Move 'saved doctors' to profile

4. Add calendar on history page
